What is the AdBlue pump used for?

Every new vehicle includes an AdBlue pump to reduce emissions of harmful compounds into the atmosphere, such as nitrogen oxides, to meet exhaust emission standards. The function of this device is to supply a 32.5% aqueous urea solution to catalytic converter dosers or injectors.
Thanks to the reactions that take place in the combustion chamber after AdBlue is supplied, nitrogen oxides are broken down into nitrogen and water molecules (in the form of water vapor). In this way, the amount of harmful substances in the exhaust gases is significantly reduced.

AdBlue pump – operation

The AdBlue pump works by sucking fluid from the tank and pumping it to the vehicle’s exhaust gas treatment system. The pump must ensure adequate flow of AdBlue fluid for the exhaust gas treatment system to function properly. Appropriate flow is ensured by selecting the appropriate pump for a given exhaust gas treatment system.

The AdBlue pump must be properly maintained to operate efficiently. Regular cleaning and maintenance is required, as well as replacement of damaged or worn parts. If the AdBlue pump fails, this may lead to serious problems with the exhaust gas treatment system and increase emissions of harmful gases.
