What is a high pressure intercooler?

Principle of operation of the MAN indirect air cooler

The high pressure cooler works on the principle of heat exchange. As hot air enters the radiator, the heat is absorbed by the internal cooling channels, where it is dissipated and released to the surrounding air. In this way, the air leaving the radiator is much cooler than the air entering, which contributes to increasing air density and, consequently, increasing engine power.
